This photo of the Gateway Arch was made today about 10:30 a.m. local St. Louis time. We stopped there with the FFA Chapter on our way to Indianapolis and the National FFA Convention. It was beautiful in St. Louis today, and a perfect day to take pictures of the arch.

Windmill Forest
Another view of the windmill farms south of Lamar, Colorado. In some place, the windmills appear to go on forever!

Wind Farm
This image was taken a few miles south of Lamar, Colorado. Wind energy is big business in this area of the country.
I'm Back...
Sorry I've been missing for the last month! I got a case of the flu that lasted for a couple of weeks, and I did not feel like doing much of anything, including going through my photos to find blog images. Then after doing nothing for a couple of weeks, I got extremely busy, and have not had time to think about this blog. I'm hoping to get back to a daily posting schedule now.

Moolah!
Okay, I couldn't resist. I took a picture of the pile of money we made at our last yard sale. Don't get excited... it's mostly one's.

Big Dog Dad
Speaking of the football game (see yesterday's post), this gentleman sat in front of me, and I couldn't resist taking a picture of his shirt.

Perfect Finish
Since yesterday marked the opening games of NFL Football (I don't count pre-season games) I thought it might be a nice tribute to Dallas to post this picture I took from Texas Stadium last year on the date of the last Cowboys game played in that stadium. It was against the Redskins.... Unfortunately, they didn't live up to the billboard's toast.

Carnations
Another example of carnations that were given by PTO members to teachers during Teacher Appreciation week in Dell City. For the first example, see this earlier post.

Active Volcano
This photo was actually taken by my father while he was in the Navy. I noticed it as I was sorting through my pictures and found it amusing, so I decided to share it here. I don't know where he was when he took it (other than somewhere in Southern California, obviously!).

Sunning
As we head into fall, I thought I'd post one last reminder of summer. This photo of an anonymous woman and her dog catching some rays was made on the beach in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Poor Old LeRoy
You may have to click on it to get the image large enough to see, but welded to this gate are the words "Poor Old LeRoy". I guess that tells us who owns this ranch! Of course, I had a have a picture. LOL! This was taken in New Mexico near Dog Canyon and the Texas/New Mexico border.

Shopping Anyone?
I found it amusing that this small building was named a "mall". I always think of malls as huge buildings with lots of chain stores and two or three (at least) department stores. But hey, why not have big dreams, right? :o)

Mexican Smoke Bush
We found this bush growing beside a track through the Sacramento Mountains on our way to Timberon. It was so delicately beautiful, it reminded me of feathers.

Free Range - Part 2
This soon-to-be mama and her companion were not too happy about us disturbing their grazing. The photo was taken in the Guadalupe Mountains on our way to Dog Canyon.

Free Range - Part 1
This Hereford strolled out in front of our truck as we were driving through the Sacramento Mountains one day and stopped to get a look at us. I never did get used to sharing the road with cattle that weren't in a truck. :)

Cactus Fruit
Took this photo while driving through the Guadalupe Mountains on our way to Dog Canyon, and then on to Queen, New Mexico. It was a beautiful spring day in the mountains, one of those days that make you especially glad to be alive.

Pink Carnation
An image of a pink carnation destined to be delivered to a teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week. The Parent Teacher Organization in Dell City did something different each day to show appreciation to the teachers for their hard work all year.

Shadowplay
I can't help it - I love beautiful landscapes. This was taken on a drive through the Chihuahuan Desert in Southeast New Mexico one spring day. We were on a dirt track in the middle of nowhere, south of Lincoln National Forest and west of the Guadalupe Mountains (look at a map - there is NOTHING in that area!) and a freak spring rainshower was brewing. The sun was playing hide and seek in the clouds, and I thought it made some interesting patterns on the foothills in the disance.

St. Francis De Paula Mission Doors
These beautiful doors grace the front of the St. Francis De Paula Mission in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The Franciscan mission was founded in 1865 and is still active. Make sure you click on the picture to get a larger image and a better view of the beautiful carvings.

Orla Cafe
This abandoned cafe is in the town of Orla, Texas, which is little more than a wide spot in the road at the intersection of US Hwy. 285 and TX State Hwy. 652, or the Orla Road as people around Dell Valley know it. Basically, the middle of nowhere. Though it once had a thriving population of 200 or so, now it is a ghost town with a population of 2!

Optical Illusion
Saw this driving down I-20 between Midland and Abilene one day. I just glanced at first and it totally fooled me! (Doesn't take much.) I managed to snap this picture and stay on the road at the same time.

God's Windows
The sunsets in Dell City, Texas are spectacular, and I couldn't resist snapping pictures of them almost every night! I saw this out my back door and imagined the golden light of heaven shining through God's "windows" in the clouds.

Garden Gate
My husband and I took a day trip through southeasten New Mexico one day and discovered this garden gate tucked back in a neighborhood in Alamogordo. It was so pretty, it looked to me like it belonged in a magazine! I made him stop so I could take a quick picture.

According to Thy Needs
I saw this amazing sight as I was walking my dog one day in West Texas. The rain and sun are over alfalfa fields to the west of Dell City. I couldn't help but think of God and how He meets our needs, no matter what they are.

Cotton Boll
A cotton boll entered in the 2007 Hudspeth County Fair. I think it won first place, but I can't remember who entered it. If somebody knows, please leave a comment.
